The Tulsa (OK) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated hosted SMART Bag Giveaway

On November 19, 2024, the Health and Human Services Facet of The Tulsa (OK) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated hosted another successful SMART (Sensible Meals and Recreational Time) Bag giveaway at the Chamberlain Park Community Center. Through our ongoing partnership with Food On The Move and their monthly resource festival, nearly 300 families with children under 18 received a bag filled with valuable resources promoting healthy lifestyles.

In preparation for this event, members of The Tulsa Chapter gathered after the chapter meeting to pack 300 SMART Bags. Their dedication and teamwork ensured each bag included:

• Printed materials with healthy meal and snack ideas

• A water bottle

• A jump rope or a ball

Families also received guidance on the importance of eating fresh fruits and vegetables, choosing water over sugary beverages, and staying active through regular exercise.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Food On The Move for providing the 30-pound bags of fresh fruits and vegetables and to TSET Healthy Living Program for contributing the educational materials and exercise items. Together, we continue to combat food insecurity and childhood obesity in our community.
